Masterful Chinese White & Brown Jade Carving of Felines, Qing Dynasty
Qing Dynasty 1644-1911. Masterfully carved example of white and brown jade from a single natural stone, the carver worked to show a feline "Kitten" with white jade and another from the same stone carved from spotted brown jade mimicking a feline of the same litter with different pattern. The white feline, slightly larger is resting with the brown and spotted feline for warmth. The piece shows age well and has an old but still brilliant polish with no rough edges or sharpness at all. The lot also includes a old tag from a Hong Kong Antique Gallery which the Hong Kong Export Association stamped with their wax seal. 1 7/8"W
Wong collection, Los Angeles, CA, US, Mr. Wong was a Hong Kong government translator and court interpreter and amassed his collection in Hong Kong during the mid-1900's-1978.
