OOC by McClelland Barclay (American, 1891-1943)
Original oil on canvas circa 1933 by American artist McClelland Barclay (1891-1943). A tender moment between a young husband and wife. McClelland Barclay was an American illustrator, artist, and Sailor. By the age of 21, Barclay's work had been published in The Saturday Evening Post, Ladies Home Journal, and Cosmopolitan. He was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Naval Reserve in 1938 and following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, he went on active duty. Born: 1891, St. Louis, MO Died: July 18, 1943. This original oil is signed on the upper left corner in paint by the artist. Canvas is on original stretcher frame and shows wear/rubbing/canvas splits at edges. Will benefit from stabilization. Dimensions: 32 x 40 inches.
