Barmann Brewery: Catskill Water Beer : Wood Crate
Peter Barmann Kingston, N.Y. Wood Beer Crate. The Peter Barmann Brewery, was located at 30 Barmann Avenue in Kingston NY . Peter Barmann came to America in 1857 and soon was apprenticed to his uncle, Balthazar Schwalbach, in the brewing business. Brewery buildings were constructed around 1885 and the produced lager beer, ale, and porter until 1920, when Prohibition began. In an attempt to continue production, the brewery ran a rubber hose through a city sewer line to a side-street bottling plant, but it was eventually discovered. ( NY Historic Kingston Digital Archive) Vintage condition well made Boston Beer Co. beer crate made of wood featuring metal reinforced edges with black ink stamped insides and outsides. Size: L- 21 inches W- 13.5 inches H- 11 inchesCond: Evidence of authentic wear and use of vintage item including but not limited to wood splitting, discoloration, staining, edge chipping, rusting, loose handle/side.
