Tatsuzo Shimaoka (Japanese, 1919-2007)
Mid to Late 20th Century.
The more subtly decorated example displays impressed basketry and rope like impressions as beautifully glazed and fired on the obverse as on the reverse where the maker's mark is impressed. The face of this stoneware plaque is decorated more simply and balanced than many examples.
Measures 12.25 inches in diameter.
