Theodore Herzl - An important letter. Vienna 1901

An important letter signed by Theodor Herzl regarding the secrecy of funds allocated to the Zionist enterprise in preparation for the expansion of activity in the establishment of the "Zionist Bank" - the "Jewish Settlement Treasury" whose head office was in London. Vienna 1901, German.

During 1901, Herzl was involved in the establishment of the "Zionist Bank" - the Jewish settlement treasury. To this end, he had to forward and receive financial reports from the activity that began in London. Although the bank was small in scope, for cooperation and transparency, Herzl gave a detailed report on the funds that were used to strengthen the Zionist enterprise owned by the Zionist Committee. In the letter before us, Herzl appeals to the London Representative and requests that the financial statements he will send to a minimum number of copies to only five members of the committee and not to ten copies as he sent earlier, for reasons of confidentiality and to prevent clutter duplication. The bank was small and based on small amount of the poor, but already at the beginning of his activity he was able to issue modest letters of credit that Herzl needed in the first stage of negotiations with the Ottomans.

Typewriter printing, Herzl's signature, and Secretary Kokosh's signature.

28x21 cm. Good condition.
