ERNST PERABO

(1845 � 1920) German-born American composer, pianist and teacher. His most famous student, who studied with him from 1876 through 1882, was the pianist and composer Amy Beach. Bound composition, Perabo's adaptation of Beethoven's "Concert for Violin, Op. 61", published by Breitkopf & Hartel, Leipzig. 48pp. 4to., bound in leather with gilt titles. Edges rubbed. Peralto inscribes the composition in German: "To the faithful wife, to the wise Mother, to the conscientious friend, to the considerate and modest benefactress, Mrs. J. Malcolm Forbes..." and dates it Oct. 14, 1912. John Malcolm Forbes (1847�1904) was a businessman and sportsman, a prominent yachtsman and breeder of Standardbred horses.
