Eretz Al Tachsi Damam - a rare postcard in memory of the Lvov martyrs 'To the shloshim' - 1918

A rare postcard in memory of those who perished in the Lvov pogrom (Lemberg). "... Land Do not My blood In memory of the saints of Lvov - for the thirties. 18 19 Kislev - 18, 19 Tevet 1918". The Zionist Organization in Warsaw. 'Phoenix' Warsaw printing press.

The pogrom in Lvov was carried out by Polish forces and their aides between November 21 and 23, 1918, after their conquest of the city during the Polish-Ukrainian War. Many of the city's Jews at the time belonged to the courts of Hasidim and their Leaders the war refugees. In this pogrom several hundred Jews were killed and about 500 were injured. Most of the Jews were unarmed refugees in the city. Atrocities committed against local Jews were published, including acts of rape and horrific cruelty against infants, women and the elderly (a chilling description of the atrocities appeared in The "HaTzfirah" dated December 5, 1918). Following the riots among the Jews, a Jewish force was established in the city of Ternopil under the command of Solomon Leinberg. In June 1919 the force became the Jewish Crash Regiment in the Ukrainian army of western Ukraine.

15x10.5 cm. Top left corner slightly cut. Peeling paint at the edges. Good condition.
