CHOKER U’MEKUBAL. FIRST EDITION SHKLOW 1785

Consisting of a debate between a Choker (Philosopher) and a Mekubal (Kabbalist). A thorough defense of the position of the Kabbalists in response to various critics of the time by R. Moshe Chaim Luzzato (Ramchal).

R. Moshe Chaim Luzzato (1707 -1746) was born in Padua, Italy into a distinguished family. His genius was obvious from a very early age, and as a young man he was already well known for his complete mastery of the entire Biblical, Rabbinic and Kabbalistic literature. Unfortunately, his preoccupation with Kabbalah, and the impact he made on the young, aroused opposition and false suspicion of Sabbatean influence. Though R. Moshe Chaim is best known for his Mesillas Yesharim – perhaps the most popular mussar work in Jewish literature – the main focus in most of his numerous works was on the Kabbalah.  Up until today, his profound works continue to touch and inspire Jews of all groups.

Vinograd Shklow 31. Tzvi Hirsch Margulies press. 27 pages. 18 cm. Fair condition, stained. Modern binding.
