French edition of the Old and New Testaments, with commentary and exegesis by Jean-Frédéric Ostervald (1663-1747), a Protestant priest and theologian from Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Two columns per page (except for introduction at beginning); separate title page for New Testament. Includes engraved plates (folded) featuring maps, tables, and family trees.
[1] f., XI, [1], 760 pp; [1] f., 279 pp. + [4] folded engraved plates. Approx. 39 cm. Good condition. Several leaves with moderate browning. Minor stains, including ink stains. Minor creases and tears to edges of some leaves. Small holes to edges of few leaves (with damage to page numbering). Notation on front flyleaf. Leather-covered, gilt-decorated binding; slight abrasion and wear.
