Sefer Ir Giborim - The First Printed Book by R. Efrayim Luntchytz, Basel 1580. First Edition.

A complete copy of Sefer Ir Giborim, authored by R. Efrayim Luntchytz (who also authored Keli Yakar). This work is the very first printed book by R. Efrayim Luntchytz, and contains Mussar and Derashos, arranged according to the weekly Parsha.

Interestingly, it was brought to print in Basel, Switzerland, although the author lived in Prague, quite some distance away. On the title page, a special mention is made of “R. Mordechai ben Moshe HaLevi” of Prague, who took trips from Prague to Basel, and succeeded in his efforts in bringing this work to print.

As mentioned, Ir Gibborim is the very first book printed by the Keli Yakar. This work was printed in 1580, followed by Olelos Efrayim printed in 1590. Next came Keli Yakar in 1602, and Sifsei Da’as in 1610, followed by various other works printed many centuries later.
A rare and important book authored by the Keli Yakar.

In good-moderate condition. Title page partly restored, affecting the page border (partly supplied in facsimile). Light stains throughout, otherwise in good condition. Ancient ownership inscriptions seen on title page and final leaf.
