* Sefer Mosdei Chochmah: Chochmat HaCheshbon V'HaHandasah by the controversial Jewish scientist Chaim Zelig Slonimsky. Vilna and Horodna, 1834. First edition.

"Includes the entire scholarly and sublime science [pure mathematics] ... the simple and sublime science of algebra." This is the first book by the Jewish scientist who studied in cheder and invented many innovations which were ridiculed in his generation by later became reality.

* Kneh Chochmah: Five Topics in Algebra. Vilna and Horodna, 1829. One of the earliest Jewish books on algebra. First edition.

"Including Five Topics in Algebra." The book was written in a question-and-answer format about the science of mathematics with the topics of the questions coming from Jewish tradition: "Question: Two people decided to study Tanach, one would study seven kappitlach each day ... and the second would study five kappitlach each day ... how many days faster will the first finish before the second?" and such. The sixth section deals with Torah measurements, and the seventh is an elucidation of the Gr"a's words on the halachahs of sukkah.

Overall fine condition. Aging stains. Both title pages bear owners' signatures from the time of printing: "Yitzchak Rabinowitz." The flyleaf bears mathematical calculations and exercises. The back flyleaf bears a lengthy handwritten notation.
