Di Geshicht fun Meine Leiden - Memoirs of Mendel Beilis. Letter from Rabbi Kook

Di Geshicht fun Meine Leiden - book of memories by Mendel Beilis, in which he tells the story of his life, the years of trial and imprisonment; his ascent to the Land of Israel and his immigration to the United States. Published by the author. New York, 1931. Yiddish.

At the beginning of the book, there is a letter from Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kook from 1930 to American Jewry, in which he writes about Beilis: He withstood difficult trials, in a true and just spirit, in the sanctity of Judaism, and recognition of the great value of his innocence. He came out of it honorably, crowned with a laurel wreath of victory. His honor is the honor of our people, and the honor of our sacred and pure Torah." The letter was written especially for this edition, which was printed in the Beilis's final years, when his financial situation was dire. Rabbi Kook writes that there is a double obligation for every Jew to buy this book "as it is somewhat of a megillah for our generation." The letter was printed in Hebrew and in Yiddish translation.
