Amulet for the Protection of a Child. Central Europe, 18th-19th Century. Rare

Coin made as a cast bronze amulet. Diameter: 27 mm.

Inscription on one side in Hebrew: "This child shall grow to Torah, chuppah and good deeds." The central letter ה' is large, with a flowering branch. On the other side, at the top, is a pair of fish, and underneath, a very rubbed-out inscription, only partially legible. Originally: "May it be Your will ... to save this Jewish child, so that she not fall victim to diphtheria and You raise them to your Torah and protect them with Your mercy, amen."

Moderate condition. Slight blemishes in the circumference. The loop for hanging is lacking. Minimal blemishes in the text.
