לוינסון היה ממנהיגיה הבולטים של יהדות פולין בתקופה שבין מלחמות העולם, ואף היה חבר ה"סיים" הפולני, ובשנת 1936 עלה ארצה.
התצלום הוגש כמזכרת למחנך הנודע ואחד מראשי הקהילה - שמואל שרייער (שרירא) לרגל עלותו ארצה.
התמונה מופיעה גם בעמ' 153 בספר הזכרון של רובנה.
