Unrecorded publication by Sorah Schenirer. 1930.
Unrecorded Yiddish journal by Sorah Schenirer titled וואס דארף זיין מיט דער יודישער טאכטער where Sorah Schenirer pleads eloquently in Yiddish, to Jewish parents to send their daughters to Bais Yaakov. In this rare pamphlet, Sorah Schenirer describes at length the perils facing Jewish girls in Poland and traces the history of the Bais Yaakov movement from its humble beginnings through its unprecedented growth.
Sorah Schenirer (1883-1935), was a pioneer of Jewish education for girls and initiated a system of organized Jewish education for girls “Bais Yaakov”. Founded in 1917 with a few students, by the eve of the Holocaust there were about 250 schools established and over 40,000 students in Bais Yaakov schools. Her influence and contribution to Torah true Judaism is immeasurable and her educational system and teachings live on.
