Portrait of Rabbi Yehonatan Eybeschütz. [Vienna, 1818.] Rare

Impressive portrait copperplate image of Rabbi Yehonatan Eybeschütz holding books in both his hands and with a bookcase behind him. Caption under the picture: 'Image of the great gaon Rabbi Yehonatan ztz"l Av Beit Din and rabbi of the AH"U communities' and the artist's signature in print: Jos Sher.

This portrait originally appeared in Rabbi Yehonatan Eybeschütz's book Ya'arot Devash, which was printed in Vienna in 1818. However, the picture is lacking in most copies because it was removed from the book to be hung as a home decoration.

25x19 cm, placed in passe-partout and a beautiful frame. Very fine condition.
