Commemorative Medal for the Serbian-Bulgarian War
Circular silver medal with eyelet for ribbon suspension. The face with two shields supporting the crown of the Prince of Hesse, that on the left with the lion rampant of Bulgaria, that on the right with two crowned columns above two hands offering a crown, encircled by the Cyrillic inscription ‘АЛЕКСАНДЪРЪ I КЊЗЬ БЪЛГАРСКИЙ’ (Alexander I, Knyaz (Prince) of Bulgaria). The reverse inscribed ‘БЛАГОДАРНОЕ ОТЕЧЕСТВО НА СВОИТѢ ХРАБРИ СИНОВЕ’ (The country’s thanks to its courageous sons) and dated ‘1885’ within a circular laurel wreath inscribed with the names of the most notable battles of the war. Original ribbon present.
