Mar’ot HaTzvaot, a commentary on the major prophets, by Rabbi Moshe Alshech, Prague 1630-1631
Rabbi Moshe Alshech (1508-1593) was one of the great sages of Safed, during that city’s Golden Age. He studied under Rabbi Yosef Karo, author of Beit Yosef, and was even ordained by him.
This Commentary on the major prophets was first printed in Venice in 1603-1607, without the biblical text. In the edition before us the commentary was published for the first time, below the text of the prophets (vowelized in square letters, with the commentary in Rashi script).
The title page bears the stamps of a few of the book’s owners.
Complete. Fair condition. Time stains. 111 pages, 28 cm.
