Righteous among the Nations, Mons. Oddo Stocco, His Autograph in his book, 1947
Righteous among the Nations in the Holocaust Mons. Oddo Stocco, orig. Autograph on frontispiece in his book, 1947, The book: S.Zenone degli ezzelini al suo arciprete. Mons Oddo Stocco, 1947, 40 pp., soft cover, 34x24.5cm., illustrated, Condition: covers detached, worn, stained, chipped to edges, foxing stains to most of page. Monsignor Oddo Stocco (1892-1958) was an Italian presbyter. The community of San Zenone degli Ezzelini, in the province of Treviso, guided by their priest Mons. Oddo Stocco, hid 53 Jews in their homes, thus saving them from deportation to the Nazi death camps. Only after 50 years from the death of the priest, the initiatives in favor of the Jews he had done between 1943 and 1945 were brought to light. The testimonies of several saved Jews, still living in Venice, Genoa, Toronto and Sydney, and the entire documentation collected were first announced in a conference in 2006, and then published in 2008. It was then presented to Yad Vashem of Jerusalem an application for the recognition of "Righteous among the Nations" for Stocco, which on February 20, 2011, was proclaimed "Righteous among the Nations" by Yad Vashem of Jerusalem, the Israeli National Association for the Memory of the Shoah and the remembrance of the people who risked their lives to help the Jews
