Western Asiatic 'Tiger' Vessel
1st millennium AD
A ceramic aquamanile formed as a standing feline with head inclined upwards, painted panels of decorative detailing to the flanks and chest, inset glass(?) eyes, filling tube behind the shoulders with strap handle from the rim, spout to the mouth, short legs with three-clawed feet. 1.2 kg, 23.5cm (9 1/4"). Fine condition; one foreleg repaired.
