Western Asiatic Sassanian Silver Ring with Gryphon Gemstone
3rd-7th century AD
A hollow-formed silver finger ring with D-section hoop, ellipsoid plaque with inset rock crystal intaglio of a gryphon with pellets and star. 5.85 grams, 27mm overall, 17.27mm internal diameter (approximate size British N, USA 6 3/4, Europe 14.0, Japan 13) (1"). Fine condition.
Provenance
The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s.
