A Letter with a Nice Story about Uri Nissan Gnessin - 1923
A letter addressed to the editors of Hapoel HaTzair in Tel Aviv, dated 1923.
"Dear friends!" the letter begins. The author writes that he has learned that ten years have passed since the death of Uri Nissan Gnessin. "Because our newspaper has a place for beautiful literature, I am sending you, the reader, one of my poems, which the deceased translated in 1903 or 1904." It also says that at this time Gnessin was staying in the Chernigov region (now in Ukraine) in the house of the butcher. "The young people of the city gathered around him, along with the butcher's son, an educated young man with talents." He ends the letter with the appeal: "If you do not find it appropriate to print the poem in the newspaper, please let me know, and if you do print it, please send me the issue."
The poem in question is not included here.
Fair condition (tear on the folds).
