Chasdei Dovid, section two. First, fundamental, comprehensive commentary on the Tosefta. Renowned work of Rabbi Dovid Pardo. On the last page: Poem with nikkud by the author.

Rabbi Dovid Pardo [1719-1790] was born in Venice. He served as rabbi of Spalato and then Sarejevo, he also substituted as Chief Rabbi of the Jews of Belgrade. In 1782, he moved to Jerusalem and was invited to serve as a member of the beit din of Mahari”t Algazi. He headed the Chessed L’Avraham and Binyan Shlomo yeshivot in the city. He also authored: Maskil L’Dovid; Shoshanim L’Dovid; Michtam L’Dovid; Lamnatzeich L’Dovid; Mizmor L’Dovid and Chukat HaPesach.
In 1775, he traveled to Leghorn to print one of his works and became friendly with the Chida who was there on behalf of Kollel Chevron. He learned with the Chida and, later, his youngest son, Rabbi Avraham, married Simchah, the daughter of the Chida. When he was in Leghorn, he met Mahari”t Algazi and Rabbi Yaakov Chazan who gave him an approbation to his work.
