Awesome Grossdeutschland Div Panzer Signals Wrapper
This Panzer Signals Wrapper is an incredible, untouched, almost mint condition example that could be the centerpiece of a collection of wartime German Army uniforms. It’s a completely textbook, late war issue wrapper, made of a typical wartime black wool. The wool retains all of the original nap, and shows no sign of wear. This gorgeous wrapper is complete with all of its original, factory applied insignia. The breast eagle is a 1939 pattern and it's in excellent condition. The jacket comes with the awesome silver embroidered sutterlin Grossdeutschland early pattern cuff title. Also both shoulder straps have the cyphers with the GD letters to identify the elite unit of the Wehrmacht and lemon-white for signals of the Panzer unit. Both collar tabs have also lemon-yellow piping and both zink made panzer jawless skulls. The upper buttonhole have stitched 2 ribbons for Iron cross 2nd class and 1st winter in the East medal. Both awarded to this soldier. Outstanding piece! The Panzergrenadier Division "Großdeutschland", also commonly referred to simply as Großdeutschland or Großdeutschland Division, was an elite combat unit of the German Army (Heer) that fought on the Eastern Front in World War II.Originally formed in 1921 it was known as the Wachregiment Berlin and served as a ceremonial guard unit and by the 1939 had grown into a regiment of the combined Wehrmacht German armed forces. The regiment would later be expanded and renamed Infantry Division Großdeutschland in 1942, and after significant reorganization was renamed Panzergrenadier Division Großdeutschland in May 1943. In November 1944, while the division retained its status as a panzergrenadier division, some of its subordinate units were expanded to divisional status, and the whole group of divisions were reorganized as Panzerkorps Großdeutschland.
