Louis Oscar Griffith Aquatint Etching, France
L.O. (Louis Oscar) Griffith (IN, 1875-1956), 10.62" x 10.13" (sight size) aquatint etching, signed lower left, depicting a streamside French village (rare) . Lyman Bros. tag verso. Inscribed verso in pencil, Ernest Rupel. Size as framed 21" x 20". Griffith, born in Greencastle, IN. This piece is likely from the artist's trip to France in 1908. In 1922 he and his new wife moved back to Nashville, IN where he opened his studio.
