LEONID KOCHERGIN 1900 Russian Empire Enameled Letter Opener In 14Kt Gold Silver & Jade
This is a very handsome luxurious desk letter-opener, created during the imperial Russian period in the city Saint Petersburg, between the 1900 and 1910. The fabulous neo-classic piece has been manufactured at the jewelry atelier of Leonid Kochergin (?. ????????) and made up from parts crafted in .916/.999 silver, yellow gold of 14 karats, enamels and carved black jade.The neo-classic letter opener was designed in the style of Louis XVI and is embellished with engine turned guilloche designs which is topped with cream translucent glass enamel and accents of white hard enamel. Materials: .916 Sterling silver, 14kt yellow gold, guilloche topped with cream glass enamel, white hard enamel and carved black jade. Weight: 63.95, (40.99 Dwt.). Measures: 203 mm by 29 mm by 17 mm (8.05 x 1.14 x 0.67 Inches).
Condition: The overall condition of this letter opener is very good. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold or the silver
Hallmarks: Stamped with Russian imperial marks, the post 1896 mark for the city of Saint Petersburg, the zolotniks marks inside square cartouches of 88 and 56 for the assay and warranty of the .916/.999 silver and .583/.999 for the 14 karats gold respectively and the full maker's mark name in Cyrillic as follow ?. ???????? associated to L. KOCHERGIN.
