B'Galut Asmera, 1946. Tana"ch used in the African Exile by Detainees from the Underground. Sembel, Eritrea, 1946
Large Tana"ch with engraved metal plates riveted to the cover. A metal plate is nailed to the back cover engraved [Hebrew] "In the Asmera Exile, 1946." The front binding has a metal plate shaped like the Decalogue, engraved with the Ten Commandments and 2 stars of David.
Torah, Nevi'im, Ketuvim, precisely according to tradition, vigorously proofread by the expert sage Rabbi Meir HaLevi Lettris, Hebrew Publishing Company, New York.
1390 pp, 20 cm.
Fine condition. The first leaves are stained and creased; the binding is partially detached.
The books B'Lahav HaMered by Tzvi Wolf (Hillel) and MiShevi LeShvut by Yosef Vinitzky, Golei Kenya, as well as several photographs from the Sembel and Gilgil camps are all included.
