Non-Traditional Haggadah - Kibbutz Ramat Rachel, 1950
Non-traditional haggadah - stencil print with impressive illustrations depicting the establishment of the kibbutz and its strengths, and texts relating to the history and goals of the kibbutz.
The text of "Shefoch Chamatcha" [Pour out Your wrath ...] is flanked by an illustration of a concentration camp surrounded by barbed wire, with a snake striking it. The text "On the Walls of Jerusalem I have placed guards, " is illustrated with the emblem of the State of Israel and stars of David. Includes an interesting passage regarding the tense situation in the country and the kibbutz's goals: "Servitude and atrophy are behind us. Rejuvenation and independence are before us. This is the battle, until when? ... Until when will we live in danger of new attacks? ... Until when? Until the strength of the Jews in their Land will be victorious over its enemy wherever it is ... All enemy camps, know: There is nothing that can break the spirit of the Jewish people in its Land." Towards the end of the haggadah there is a lengthy text relating to the Seder night in Ramat Rachel, 1950: "In the large dining room in Ramat Rachel, we will pass before the eyes of our spirit all that has transpired over the past year ... the mouths of the canons were still aimed at us and the guns from over the borders ... and behold we have arisen and have managed to redeem the desolation ... last year, our numbers were small, and behold our strength has grown and doubled ... our colleagues in the army have exchanged their tools of destruction for ones of construction and production ... our colleagues in the kibbutz farms have responded to our appeal and have come to assist us. The working youth have come to strengthen our numbers, the returnees of Babylon are beginning to reach us ...' and more.
