Discovery: Document of Cooperation between the Freethinkers and the Old Yishuv in the Land of Israel
Historic discovery: Letter from the Va'ad HaTzirim to Rabbi DovBer Epstein, one of the prominent activists in Jerusalem, to cooperate with the Old Yishuv in preparation for the establishment of the Va'ad HaIr. In their letter, they ask to meet with his faction, that of the Old Yishuv's rabbis and activists. Jerusalem, 1917.
Va'ad HaTzirim was established in the Land of Israel following the Balfour Declaration, and was led by Chaim Weizmann. His goals were to lay a foundation for the construction of a national homeland for the Jewish people in the Land of Israel, concern for Jews in the Land and to liaise between the Zionist Federation and the Jewish Yishuv and the British authorities in the Land of Israel.
