Passover Haggadah. Trieste, 1864. Impressive Copy in a Magnificent Binding

Passover Haggadah with pictures and an Italian translation by Rabbi Avraham Chai Morpurgo [L’Haggada illustrata. Tradotta da A. V. Morpurgo]. Trieste, 1864.

Magnificent haggadah with famous pictures. The pictures were created by C. Kirchmayr, and his signature appears in the margins of the title page and in initials on each picture, a total of 58 copperplates.

Refer to: B. Ruth, "HaHaggadah HaMetzuyeret She'B'Defus" - Areshet III, 1961, pp. 27-28. There it says that there is only one haggadah from the 19th century that can be viewed as ambitious and fit to create a new tradition, which is the haggadah that appeared in Trieste in 1864.

It is one of the most magnificent haggadahs in the history of print, with a large number of pictures, more than any previous printed haggadah.

On the final page, there are musical notes for the hymns "Adir Hu, " "Adir BiMeluchah" and "Echad Mi Yodeah."

[4], 64, [2] pp, 32 cm. Ya'ari 899, Otzar HaHaggadot 1217.

Moderate-fine condition. Professional restoration to the inner margins of three leaves. Usage stains. Minimal adhesions. Magnificent new leather binding.
