Mishneh Torah L'HaRamba"m [Yemen, 14th Century]

Manuscript of the book Mishneh Torah by the Ramba"m [Yemen, 14th century, about 100 years before the invention of the press]. Many differences from the printed version. There are glosses and comments in the margins of the manuscript along the entire length of the book. There is a later owner's mark on page 75a: Binyamin ben Yosef.

The manuscript is from the book of Nezikim in Mishneh Torah, and it includes the following simanim: Hilchot Nizkei Mammon - 23 until the end, Hilchot Geneivah, Hilchot Gezeilah V'Aveidah, Hilchot Chovel U'Meizik - all in their entirety, and Hilchot Rotzeach V'Shemirat HaNefesh from the beginning through the end of Chapter 7.

Many changes and errors crept into the text of Mishneh Torah over the years, both in the text of the halachahs and in the sectional division. The sources of the differences are copying errors that were firmly set in print, editing by various copyists who 'corrected' text to that which was proper in their opinions, and Christian censorship that changed the original text. There are only approximately 20 draft leaves remaining from the Ramba"m's original manuscript of Mishneh Torah, found in the Cairo Genizah, so that to clarify the original and precise text, scholars use ancient manuscripts and remnants of ancient prints. Rabbi Yosef Kapach is of the opinion that the Yemenite manuscripts, such as this one, are the correct and true texts.

[210] pp, 15x24 cm. Ink on high-quality paper, in Yemenite writing, professional scribal script. Authorization from Professor Richler included.

Moderate-fine condition. Aging stains. In some of the leaves, there is professional restoration of the margins, with tiny blemishes to the text. New leather binding.

Pay Attention: VAT should be added to the commission for foreign residents as well.
