Handwritten Torah Novellae by the Steipler - Draft of his Monumental Work, 'Kehilot Ya'akov'

Compilation, [4] leaves in a dense and clear autograph script, divided into simanim and numbered with [Hebrew] letters. Entirely [all approximately 1,000 words] handwritten by the gaon Rabbi Yisrael Ya'akov Kanievsky, known by his nickname, "the Steipler." These leaves contain the novellae that were printed, after editing and with changes, in his monumental work Kehilot Ya'akov. [C. 1930s]

These leaves bear the title "On Collecting Deeds from Debtors, " written as a chaburah in its own right. This is apparently one of the early drafts of Kehilot Ya'akov, the Steipler's monumental book. The novellae were printed later, with a different arrangement and text in the book (Kehilot Ya'akov, Ketubot, siman 21). For example, instead of this title (On top of page א' of the manuscript): "On Collecting Deeds from Debtors, " it reads "Collecting Deeds from a Borrower for a Lender" and so on.

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of Rabbi Yisrael Ya'akov Kanievsky.

[4] leaves of paper, with an average size of 20 cm. Autograph script with revisions and glosses in the body of the manuscript, entirely in the Steipler's script.

Fine condition. Aging stains.
