Mishnat Avraham, on the laws of Torah scrolls, tefillin, and mezuzot, by Rabbi Avraham ben Tzvi Yaffe. Zhytomyr, 1868. First edition.
On the title page, it is noted that the content is compiled from the books of halachic authorities and from responsa manuscripts of Rabbi Avraham Gershon of Kitov (the brother-in-law of the Baal Shem Tov), Rabbi Shabtai of Rashkov (a close associate and scribe of the Baal Shem Tov), Rabbi Yaakov of Smila (a disciple of the Baal HaTanya), and Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Lubavitch (the author of Tzemach Tzedek).
On pages 74-75, there is a lengthy responsum from the Tzemach Tzedek of Lubavitch.
With approbations from the rabbis and judges of Zhytomyr and others, highly praising the author: "He truly knew how to count words, letters, cantillation marks, and vowels from the beginning of the Torah to its end" and "He was an outstanding scholar, deeply versed in all of the Talmud and its commentaries, both early and later authorities, in these laws."
