Tzemach Tzedek, responsa on Shulchan Aruch Yoreh De'ah, by the Admor Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Lubavitch. Three parts. Vilna, 1874. First edition of all sections of Yoreh De'ah. Two volumes.
The Tzemach Tzedek was one of the greatest Chassidic poskim of his generation, and over a thousand of his halachic responsa were published in the Tzemach Tzedek series. Most of the responsa he wrote over fifty years to great rabbis across White Russia, Ukraine, and Lithuania were lost in various fires that struck the town of Lubavitch over the years. During his lifetime, the Tzemach Tzedek did not publish his halachic responsa, his chiddushim in Nigleh, or his Chassidic discourses.
