The Admor addresses the IDF recruitment office, requesting permission for Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Alter to travel abroad for Passover to visit his family.
Included is a letter from Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Alter to the Va'ad HaYeshivot, explaining the necessity of his journey.
Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Alter was the son-in-law of Rabbi Menashe Klein of Ungvar. At a young age, he was appointed as the rabbi of the Romema neighborhood in Jerusalem and head of the Gerrer Kollel in the city. He authored several books:
Pri Bikkurim – on the commandments of the Torah
Emet L’Yehuda – on Talmudic tractates
Ari SheBeChabura – on the weekly Torah portions
He was tragically killed in a car accident at the age of 28. A street in the Ramat neighborhood of Jerusalem, "Ari B’Mistarim, " is named in his honor.
