Ma'aseh HaTzadikim. Jerusalem, 1889. Author’s Dedication.
Ma'aseh HaTzadikim – Stories of the Righteous, including:
A story about Rabbi Chaim ben Attar, along with a brief biography.
The account of Rabbi Chaim Abulafia, including the wars between the Pasha of Damascus and the Governor of Tiberias.
Additional remarkable tales, authored by Rabbi Avraham Ibn Susan.
Jerusalem, 1889. Sole Edition.
Includes important approbations and a very intriguing introduction by the author, which recounts a story about the courtyard of the Beit Midrash of the Or HaChaim HaKadosh. Some of the biographical details of Rabbi Chaim ben Attar were personally heard by the author in his birthplace, Salé, from elderly people who lived during the time of the Or HaChaim HaKadosh.
Following the title page, a printed dedication appears, with an inscribed personal dedication in the author’s own handwriting and signature.
The author (1797–1903) was born in Salé, Morocco, the hometown of the Or HaChaim HaKadosh. He immigrated to Eretz Yisrael with his father in 1848, settling in Tiberias. In 1880, he embarked on a fundraising mission to Morocco. Rabbi Yosef Ben Na’im, in his book Malkei Rabbanan, records having met the author during this mission and describes him: "His appearance testified that he was a holy man... and all his words were of holiness and purity."
