A wondrous letter from the miracle worker of Bohush, of blessed memory; three lines of blessings in his holy handwriting

A letter of great significance from the renowned miracle worker, the holy Rabbi Yitzchak Friedman of Bohush, containing three lines of blessings written entirely in his own holy handwriting and signed with his sacred signature. Tel Aviv, Erev Yom Kippur, undated.

The first part of the letter includes a chassidic teaching from the Rebbe of Bohush, interwoven with a Torah from the holy Rebbe Reb Zusha of Anipoli. It is well known that tzaddikim would draw down salvations through Torah teachings and stories of the righteous of previous generations. This section of the letter is written in the handwriting of the Rebbe’s attendant, in accordance with the custom of the Rebbes of Ruzhin, and was signed in the Rebbe’s own holy handwriting.

After signing, the Rebbe added three additional lines of blessings in his own handwriting: "Your friend, inquiring about your well-being and beseeching the Almighty to bestow upon my dear friend… unparalleled success and salvation, with God's help. Your devoted friend, awaiting salvation." The Rebbe’s handwriting reveals a spirit hovering in the upper realms.

The Torah cited by the Rebbe of Bohush from Reb Zusha discusses the unique power of Yom Kippur, and the Rebbe’s closing blessing, "Gmar Chatimah Tovah", suggests that the letter was written during the auspicious days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur—between Kisei L’Asor.

The holy Admor Rabbi Yitzchak Friedman of Bohush [1903-1992] was the son of the Admor Rabbi Shalom Yosef of Shpikov and the son-in-law of his uncle, the Admor Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Bohush. From 1930, he served as the Admor of Bohush and was one of the most revered figures among Romanian Jewry. He presided over Kollel Romania. In 1951, he immigrated to Israel and established his Beit Midrash in Tel Aviv. In 1987, he relocated to Bnei Brak.

The Rebbe was known as one of the greatest miracle workers of his generation, and divine inspiration openly spoke through his mouth. The sick were healed, the barren were blessed with children, and the distressed found salvation through his prayers. His eyes, pure and clear as crystal, perceived great distances, and his responses were as lucid and illuminating as the Urim VeTummim.

It was tangibly evident how he would direct profound kavanot (mystical intentions) and yichudim, deeply rooted in the sacred writings of the Arizal, which he received from his holy forefathers. He would utter divine names in a uniquely mysterious and wondrous melody. His Kiddush over wine on Shabbat night was an unparalleled act of divine service—holding the cup with trembling and awe, his face aflame, his eyes fixed in the heavens, and his lips burning with fervor. All those present at the tish could physically see how the wine in the cup would bubble and boil.

He was famed as a wondrous tzaddik, and thousands sought his blessings and deliverance. Even his countenance, even in old age, remained smooth like that of a child. May his merit protect us.
