Eretz Chefetz – By Rabbi Moshe Nechemiah Kohenio. Jerusalem, 5644 [1884]. First Edition.
Eretz Chefetz – On the laws of Terumot and Ma'aserot, with Netiv Yam, by Rabbi Moshe Nechemiah ben Rabbi Meshulam Faivish Kohenio. Printed by Yoel Moshe Salomon, Jerusalem, 5644 [1884]. First edition.
Rabbi Moshe Nechemiah Kohenio [1817-1887] was born in Belarus. After his marriage, he moved to Vilna, where he immersed himself in the writings of Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin, whom he referred to as "my teacher and master", despite never meeting him.
He served as the rabbi of Petrovitz and later of Khasilevich, where he established a yeshiva. In 5624 [1864], he immigrated to Eretz Israel and settled in Jerusalem. In 5626 [1866], at the request of the great Torah leaders of Jerusalem, led by Rabbi Shmuel Salant, he was appointed as Rosh Yeshiva of Etz Chaim, a position he held for 25 years until his passing. Hundreds of Jerusalem’s greatest scholars were counted among his students.
