The check is issued to Rabbi Dov Ettinger author of the sefer Pe'er Tachat Efer
Rabbi Ettinger had sent his sefer to Rabbi Elyashiv requesting an approbation haskama
Rabbi Elyashiv indeed wrote him a beautiful approbation see attached image
However in his renowned scrupulousness in financial matters Rabbi Elyashiv insisted on sending back the price of the book exactly as noted in the margins of the haskama

Handwritten documents and signatures of great Torah sages are revered as amulets making this check an extremely significant collector’s item

Already as a child before his Bar Mitzvah he wrote portions of his grandfather’s kabbalistic work and the Leshem refers to him in the book with the exalted expression Ashrei Yoldeto Fortunate is she who bore him
Served as one of the greatest halachic authorities for over 70 years
Known for his extraordinary diligence and mastery of all areas of Torah enabling him to issue clear and decisive rulings on any topic
In his later years he became the undisputed leader of the Torah world in Israel and abroad

This exceptionally rare check written and signed by Rabbi Elyashiv is a testament to his unwavering commitment to honesty and integrity reflecting the highest standards of Torah leadership
