An official birth certificate signed by Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen Kook, with his signature appearing in both Hebrew and English. 1932 (Taf-Reish-Tzadik-Bet).
The Gaon Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen Kook (1865-1935) served as the first Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of the Land of Israel, under the authority of the Chief Rabbinate. A Torah genius and Kabbalist, he was the son-in-law of the Gaon HaAderet, zt”l. He founded Yeshivat Mercaz HaRav, where some of the most outstanding Torah scholars of Jerusalem studied.
Before immigrating to Eretz Yisrael, Rabbi Kook served as a rabbi in Lithuania, in the cities of Zeimelis and Bauska. After his arrival in Eretz Yisrael, he served as the Rabbi of Jaffa and the settlements, and later as the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem. He was the founder of the Chief Rabbinate of Eretz Yisrael and its first Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi.
