Rabbi David Tevele (Rubin), author of "Nachalat David" (5554–5621 [1794–1861]), was one of the greatest disciples of Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin and among the most renowned Torah scholars of his generation. Around the year 5580 [1820], he was appointed Av Beit Din and Rosh Yeshiva in Stopitz, and in 5609 [1849], he was accepted as Rabbi of the great city of Minsk.
