About the Author – Rabbi Yaakov Aryeh Guterman (1792–1874):
Founder of the Radzymin Chassidus.
Born in Warka, where he became drawn to Chassidus in his youth.
He was a disciple of the Chozeh of Lublin and the Maggid of Kozhnitz, both of whom received him with great enthusiasm.
The Maggid of Kozhnitz was so devoted to him that he personally traveled to attend his wedding.
A leading exponent of the Peshischa school, as shaped by the Yid HaKadosh and Rabbi Simcha Bunim of Peshischa.
Outlived most of Rabbi Simcha Bunim’s disciples, earning the title "Elder of the Admorim" of his generation, with great influence in the Chassidic world.
Renowned as a holy man and a miracle worker, attracting large crowds, including Admorim and rabbis.
His name was passed down to two contemporary leading Admorim:
