About Rabbi Yehuda Zerachya HaLevi Segal (1924–2001):
Rabbi Yehuda Zerachya Segal was a Torah scholar and Kabbalist, who served for fifty years as the Rabbi of Kiryat Shalom in Tel Aviv.
Born in Jerusalem, he was the son of Rabbi Sheftel (Sheftaya) Segal, a descendant of the Shelah HaKadosh.
His maternal grandfather was Rabbi Bechor Chaim Yosef David Azulai, a descendant of the Chida.
At the age of eight, he eulogized his grandfather, Rabbi Yaakov Mendelbaum of Jerusalem, as one of three chosen speakers.
In his youth, he studied at Yeshivat Lomza in Petach Tikva, where he was a disciple of Rabbi Shach and even shared a room with him for a period.
He was also closely connected to the Chazon Ish, who referred to him as "a lion among lions."
A scholar in Kabbalah and Chassidic teachings, he was known for his blessing powers and miraculous deeds.
He was respected by rabbis of all circles and for decades wrote Torah articles in various publications, including the Sha’arim newspaper.
He passed away childless on 9 Adar 5761 (2001) and was buried on Har HaMenuchot in Jerusalem.
After his passing, his writings were edited and published by Rabbi Avraham Mordechai Markson, who compiled his "Chidushei Rabbi Yehuda Zerachya".
His teachings were also included in his father’s work, "Divrei Rabbeinu Sheftel."
His biography was documented in the book "HaTzaddik Peleh."
