Chiddushei HaRi"m. Signature of his Grandson, the Admo"r, Author of 'Siftei Tzaddik' of Piltz. Glosses

Chiddushei HaRi"m on Choshen Mishpat. There is a stamp of the Admo"r Rabbi Pinchas Menachem Justman of Piltz, the author's grandson and author of Siftei Tzaddik, on the title page of the book. Handwritten glosses.

On the margins of the title page, there is a (blurred) stamp of the Admo"r, author of Siftei Tzaddik of Piltz, who was also the publisher of the Chiddushei HaRi"m books before us. Text of the stamp: "Pinchas Menachem BaHaRav z"l Justman of Gur - P.M.J." The stamp is from the time he lived in Gur and before the name 'Elazar' was added. Corrections, glosses and marks on the margins of the first leaves, possibly also by the Admo"r.

Rabbi Pinchas Menachem Elazar Justman [1848-1920], was born to Rabbi Binyamin Eliezer Justman and to his righteous mother, Mrs. Tzina Pessa, daughter of the Chiddushei HaRi"m of Gur. He was orphaned at a young age and was raised by his grandfather, who also arranged his marriage to the 'Sefat Emet''s sister, who was the granddaughter of Rabbi Avraham Mordechai Alter, son of the Chiddushei HaRi"m. He was one of the most important Chassidim and rabbis of Gur for dozens of years. After the Admo"r, the author of Sefat Emet of Gur's passing, he refused to succeed him as leader of the Gur Chassidim, so he moved to Piltz, where he began to serve as an Admo"r. At the same time, he was one of the important leaders of Polish Jewry. He is known by the series of books authored by him, as the "author of Siftei Tzaddik."

262 [2], 290 pp, 30 cm. Two title pages. With Rabbi Eliezer Silver's stamps.

Fine condition. Aging stains. Brittle paper. The title page and first leaves are detached. Missing spine. Detached front binding.
