Ach Pri Tevu’ah, by the Admor Rabbi Hershele of Liska. First edition
Ach Pri Tevu’ah – Chassidic teachings on the weekly Torah portions, by the Admor Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch of Liska, teacher of Rabbi Yeshayaleh of Kerestir. Two parts. Munkatch, 1875–1876. First edition.
The first edition of this renowned Chassidic work by one of the great miracle-working tzaddikim, the holy Rabbi Hershele of Liska. The book was brought to print shortly after the author’s passing by his grandson.
At the beginning of the work appears an enthusiastic approbation from the Admor, author of Divrei Chaim of Sanz. The publisher notes that no other approbations were obtained, in accordance with the author’s will, which stipulated that should the work be printed, a single approbation from one tzaddik would suffice. This approbation appears in both volumes. The first volume also includes the author's ethical will.
The author, the holy Admor Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch of Liska (1808–1874), was one of the foremost Chassidic leaders in 19th-century Hungary and founder of the Liska Chassidic dynasty. He was a prime disciple of Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum, the Yismach Moshe, and also traveled to Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin, Rabbi Meir of Premishlan, Rabbi Shalom of Belz, and Rabbi Chaim of Sanz. He was famed as a miracle worker, and crowds from across Hungary would flock to him.
His attendant was the holy Rabbi Yeshayaleh of Kerestir, who, even in his old age and while serving as a leading Admor himself, continued to sign his name as the attendant of the holy Rabbi of Liska.
