Lo Nir’eh K’Vo’sam HaZeh – Shulchan Aruch with the glosses of the Rema. Kraków, 1593–1594. Complete set. Exceptionally rare
Shulchan Aruch with the Glosses of the Rema. Kraków, 1593–1594. Complete Set. Exceptionally Rare.
Shulchan Aruch with glosses and halachic rulings by the eminent Rabbi Moshe Isserles ztz"l. Third edition. Kraków, printed by Yitzchak ben Aharon of Prossnitz, 1593–1594. Four parts.
This is the third edition of the Rema’s glosses on the Shulchan Aruch.
From the printers’ remarks at the beginning and end of each section, it appears the order of printing was: Choshen Mishpat, followed by Even HaEzer, Orach Chaim, and Yoreh De’ah.
Early Kraków printings of the Shulchan Aruch are exceedingly rare!
To the best of our knowledge, no complete set of all four parts has appeared in a public auction in the past twenty years. Only a few incomplete individual volumes were offered, and even those rarely included the extremely rare Orach Chaim section.
Presented here is a remarkable volume containing all four parts, complete.

Part I: Orach Chaim. Work began Sunday, the 10th of Sivan [1594]; completed on 29 Tammuz 1594. 110 leaves.

Part II: Yoreh De’ah. Work began Sunday, the 10th of Sivan [1594]; completed on 8 Elul 1594. 114 leaves.

Part III: Even HaEzer. Work began Monday, 6 Cheshvan [1594]. 66 leaves.

Part IV: Choshen Mishpat. 1593–1594. Title page states work began Thursday, 8 Tammuz [1593]; colophon notes completion on the Fast of Gedaliah, 3 Tishrei [1594]. 136 leaves.

29.5 cm. Wide margins.
Condition: Good to very good. Tear with loss at the bottom of the first title page, restored artistically with a photographic replacement. Isolated worming. Aging stains. Luxurious leather binding.
