Revolutionary War Pewter Oil Lamp & Rose Water Bottle
Antique 18th Century American Revolutionary War Era English Pewter Oil Lamp & Rosewater (Rose Water) Bottle | Each has hallmarks / makers marks on underside of bases with large crowns, etc. | Approx. Size: lamp: 10 1/2\" tall, bottle: 10\" tall | Rosewater was very popular in American in the mid-late 18th century. "The taste of America was “rosewater, cream, and sherry.” The floral water appeared everywhere in cookbooks, such as American Cookery by Amelia Simmons, published in 1796. In it, an apple pie recipe calls for “rose-water and sugar to your taste, ” as do recipes for various puddings, custards, tarts, syllabub (a kind of frothy drink), cakes, and gingerbread."
